Thanks for your interest in Ditch Ink. Ditch ink is a family and friend run enterprise in Montauk, New York, a stones throw from a surf spot of some repute called Ditch. Peter Spacek, started Ditch Ink in 2002 when it occurred to him (while observing mayhem in the ocean due to the rise in surfing's popularity) that surfing etiquette had not, as far as he knew, been put into writing. So he wrote a simple illustrated guide to the basics, and called it "Wetiquette". He took a brief stab at finding a publisher, but as he's inclined to do, chose to produce and distribute it himself, and called the new enterprise Ditch Ink. Next step was to get it out there, so he signed up for a major surf trade show. Over the years he had drawn surfing themed Christmas cards for friends ( two, surprisingly, found their way into The Museum of Modern Art's card collection) and added them to Ditch Ink's catalog of one. Wetiquette was warmly received, but the cards were a bigger hit. We now have over 70+ designs and ship all over the world. Our most popular designs are put on tee shirts and mugs that we print ourselves. And our cards are printed the old fashioned way, on thick 100 lb stock, in Maine by old time offset printing presses. So that's our story.
